Auckland University of Technology ก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 2000 เป็น 1 ใน 8 มหาวิทยาลัยระดับประเทศ ของประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ มหาวิทยาลัยได้พัฒนาขึ้นมาตลอดและเติบโตอย่างรวดเร็วทั้งในด้านการศึกษาและเทคโนโลยี มีวิทยาเขตด้วยกันอยู่ 3 ที่คือ Auckland , North Shore Cities และ Manukau เปิดสอนตั้งแต่ระดับชั้น Diploma ไปจนถึงปริญญาเอก จะเปิดรับนักเรียนเข้าศึกษาประมาณ 2 ครั้ง ต่อปี คือ เดือนกุมภาพันธ์ และเดือน กรกฎาคม ของทุกๆปี ปัจจุบันมีนักเรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยประมาณ 26,000 และมีนักเรียนนานาชาติ ประมาณ 5400 กว่าคน ที่ Auckland Campus และ North Shore Campus
